Sarah Hanson, SHRM-CP
I’m Sarah Hanson and currently serving as the Certification Director for our SESHRM chapter. I’ve been a member of SESHRM for 13 years and was a student member prior to that. I hold my SHRM-CP and PHR certifications and am a graduate of USD (Go Yotes!) I joined the SESHRM board 3 years ago to expand my professional network and to learn more about SHRM. I’m so glad that I did! The people I’ve met the past three years have been fantastic! I’m excited about the potential opportunity to be the next President Elect for our chapter!
I’ve been fortunate to be at POET for the past 13 years. I started as an HR Intern and have been blessed to grow into a number of roles within the CARE (HR) team at POET. Currently, I am a People & Culture Partner and partner with 7 of our Biorefineries and our POET Research organization. In my role, I partner with the respective General Managers and Executives to develop and implement their people strategies, including, but not limited to: organizational design, key people metrics, team member relations, team member and leader development, and compensation. I love building relationships with the team members and leaders – my favorite ways are through the facilitation of events like Leadership 101 where I can help set the foundation for our new leaders or job shadowing at a biorefinery where I get to learn how to put together a heat exchanger or replace a pump while breaking down the stereotyped HR persona.
2020 has been a wild ride for us all! For me, I got to celebrate 8 years of marriage, gave birth to my son, Raymond, and survived sending my daughter, Vivian, to Kindergarten with minimal tears from either of us! In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy being outside with a good book while enjoying coffee or wine, going to SINGO and singing along to too many songs or going for a run when I’m feeling ambitious.
