Marijuana, CBD Oil, & Opioids: Employer Rights & Responsibilities.

In November 2020, South Dakota voters approved the use of recreational and medical marijuana but the state legislature is now reviewing and voting on bills that leave us unsure what to expect. Some CBD oil is legal in South Dakota, but not all CBD oil. Opioids are legal when taken as prescribed but opioid addiction and illegal use continues to increase.
Join us for our April meeting where employment law attorneys Jeff Shultz and Seth Lopour from the Woods Fuller law firm help clarify how employers can handle the complicated and controversial issues that arise in the workplace with employee use and misuse of legal/illegal substances. They will bring us up-to-date on marijuana legislation in South Dakota and discuss how employers can manage pre-employment/random drug testing, workers' compensation, ADA accommodations, and other potential legal issues associated with the shifting legalities of various substances.
Monthly chapter meetings and HR educational presentations are free for members and $20 for non-members.
