In November 2020, South Dakota voters approved the use of recreational and medical marijuana but the state legislature is now reviewing and voting on bills that leave us unsure what to expect. *To allow adequate time to cover the topic thoroughly, we have narrowed the focus of this meeting to address the legalization of medical marijuana. 

Join us for our April meeting when attorneys Seth Lopour and Justin Smith from the Woods Fuller law firm help clarify how employers can handle the complicated and controversial issues that arise in the workplace with the legalization of medical marijuana.  They will bring us up-to-date on medical marijuana legislation in South Dakota and discuss how employers can manage pre-employment/random drug testing, workers' compensation, ADA accommodations, and other potential legal issues.

Justin joined Woods Fuller in 2006, and focuses his practice on business law, mergers and acquisitions, and contracts. He also acts as a government relations specialist and lobbyist, spending the South Dakota legislative session lobbying on behalf of firm clients.

Seth is originally from Fort Pierre, South Dakota and joined the firm in 2018. He practices primarily in general civil litigation. Prior to joining Woods Fuller, Seth clerked for the Second Judicial Circuit of the State of South Dakota. 

Monthly chapter meetings and HR educational presentations are free for members and $20 for non-members.
