5 Principles in Supporting Employees During the Pandemic: Tim Heerts, EAP Clinical Specialist at Avera EAP will present on the 5 principles that employers can use for caring for employees during COVID: Gratitude, Generosity, Patience, Communication, and Restraint (or Pace). These principles can be used by HR to facilitate conversations with leaders and managers in their own organizations. Come prepared to not only gain an understanding of these principles, but to also share and exchange best ideas with other attendees.
1. Review impacts of pandemic stress on three engagements of employees
2. Explain how practicing the 5 principles can help professionals and leaders mitigate burnout and disengagement brought on by pandemic stress.
3. Explore ways attendees have/can implement the 5 principles in their organizations.
Tim has a Master's Degree in Counseling, and an Under-graduate degree in Education. He has been in the counseling field since 1988, and the Employee Assistance Program field since 1997. As EAP Trainer & Consultant his primary work is in developing EAP program services for companies. He provides key training services to employees of companies that contract with Avera EAP, along with consultation services on employee issues to Human Resources and supervisors. He also provides trainings, critical incident response, and newsletters.
His experience includes many years training supervisors & employees on topics such as; stress management, motivating employees, communication, dealing with difficult employees, drug-free workplace, meeting planning, coping with change and many more topics. He also consults with human resources professionals and supervisors on difficult employee issues.
Monthly chapter meetings and HR educational presentations are free for members and $20 for non-members.
This event has been approved for 1 hour of continuing educational credits from SHRM and HRCI (General).
