SESHRM Student Chapter Meeting: Prepare for Interviews

Krystal Pederson has a BA in English with a minor in history, MLIS, and MACL in progress. She worked for Siouxland Libraries for 15 years, including opening the Prairie West Library Branch in 2013. In 2021 she moved to Human Resources with the City of Sioux Falls, specializing in recruiting and hiring police officers. CliftonStrenths is her favorite tool for coaching people to recognize how their strengths become potential in order to serve others with purpose.

This presentation will help participants understand the hiring process from application to job interview, including things recruiters look for in applicant materials, and pitfalls to avoid. You will hear how to develop a cover letter, how to tailor your resume for each application and advice on how to present your best self during your interview. You’ll spend time practicing interview questions with peers and will leave with a better understanding of how to incorporate your personal strengths during the job application process.
