Then There Were 5 - Generations in the Workplace: Presented by Nancy Walker MS SHRM SCP, Deputy Director, Southwest Health and Human Services, Marshall, MN

Work-life expectancy is expanding and organizational careers don’t look the way they did before. This presentation will cover the now 5 generations in the workplace, their attributes, their influences, what they expect from the workplace, how to prevent workplace tension and what different approaches managers can do to motivate them.  As HR professionals, we are charged to recruit staff, engage with staff, and act as mediators between management and staff. Understanding the 5 generations is must in order to effectively communicate, relate and motivate employees in today’s workplace. Inclusivity needs to underscore every interaction you have with your workforce. HR has a role to cultivate an environment that promotes diversity of thought throughout your organization.  The goal of this presentation is to provide a thorough viewpoint of each generation, strategies to motivate each generation in the workplace, and how to blend generations in the workplace.
