On February 8, 2021, Circuit Judge Christina Klinger ruled on an election contest complaint that Constitutional Amendment A, a 2020 ballot measure that legalized marijuana in South Dakota beginning in 2021, was unconstitutional because it violated the state’s one-subject rule and revised the state’s constitution instead of amending it.
