Hello SESHRM Members!

Spring has finally started to show itself, and after a long winter, I think we're all ready for a little sunshine and momentum. Fortunately, our chapter has been buzzing with activity, learning, and connection, making this a truly energizing start to the season.

Our Spring Conference on March 17th was a standout moment. Desiree Detrich delivered an engaging and insightful session that left us all with practical tools and renewed confidence in navigating today's HR challenges. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. And a special congratulations to the recipients of our two State Conference Scholarships; we're excited to support your continued growth.

We kept the momentum going with the SHRM South Dakota Webinar on April 1st, a free statewide learning opportunity that many of you took advantage of. It's always inspiring to see our members invest in their development and stay connected to the broader HR community.

Looking ahead, we have another valuable session coming up:

April 21st Monthly Meeting
“Protecting Your Business: I‑9 Compliance Strategies for Employers”
This topic is essential for HR professionals across all industries, and we’re looking forward to a practical, high‑impact discussion. SHRM/HRCI credits will be available.

And of course, one of the biggest events of the year is right around the corner:

SHRM South Dakota State Conference — April 29th to May 1st
Held in Chamberlain/Oacoma, this conference is always a highlight. It's a chance to learn, network, and recharge alongside HR professionals from across the state. If you haven't registered yet, there's still time!

If you haven't listened yet, I encourage you to check it out. It's a great way to stay connected between meetings, hear from local leaders, and dive deeper into topics that matter to our profession.

As always, SESHRM thrives because of the people who show up, volunteer, and help shape our chapter. If you've ever thought about getting more involved, this is a wonderful time to reach out. Our committees — Programming, Membership, Workforce Readiness, DEI, Communications, and more — are always eager to welcome new voices and fresh ideas. Please don't hesitate to connect with any board member if you're interested in joining a committee or exploring where your strengths might fit.
