Beyond the Grid: Evolving Talent Development for a Dynamic Workforce.
Session Description
This dynamic, jointly facilitated panel brings together three experienced HR leaders to explore practical and strategic uses of the 9-Grid Box in succession planning, talent reviews, and leadership development. The discussion moves beyond theory to showcase real-world examples, lessons learned, and actionable tools. Participants will compare different methods for assessing performance and potential, evaluate the pros and cons of various approaches, and walk away with two to three practical resources to implement immediately.
Session Goals
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Compare real-world strategies HR leaders use to apply the 9-Grid Box in succession planning, talent reviews, and leadership development.
2. Evaluate the advantages and limitations of different approaches to assessing performance and potential using the 9-Grid Box framework.
3. Identify 2–3 practical tools, templates, or facilitation techniques shared by panelists for immediate application in talent discussions.
4. Apply panel insights to develop or refine a 9-Grid Box process in participants’ own workplace contexts.
5. Participate in a structured activity using fictional personas and public figures to practice evaluating performance and potential, while reflecting on data, bias, and consensus-building in talent discussions.
