Everyday Influence: Practical Tools for HR Professionals with Brian Stroh
Session Description
Influence is one of the most essential — and most underutilized — tools available to HR professionals. This session challenges the misconception that influence requires a title or formal authority, and instead equips participants with a practical, relationship-centered framework for growing their everyday influence.
Using the Five Levels of Influence model, participants will assess where they currently operate, explore what moves people from transactional interactions to genuine connection, and walk away with concrete tools they can use immediately: structured onboarding check-in questions, a team member relationship profile, and strategies for building consistent relationship rhythms.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Define influence and identify common mindset barriers that prevent HR professionals from developing their influence.
2. Describe the Five Levels of Influence and assess their own current level.
3. Identify at least two practical tools for moving from Level 1 to Level 2 influence, including relationship rhythms and onboarding check-in questions.
4. Apply the Level 2 Leadership team member profile to build authentic relationships with direct reports or colleagues.
5. Create a personal action plan with at least one concrete step to increase their influence within 30 days.
