    Maggie Owens, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
    Maggie is an author, speaker and business consultant working with multi-generational companies to promote no silo thinking. Her expertise is connecting and engaging with people to build great places to work. With a wide and deep industry background focused on human resources and organizational and workforce development, Maggie has developed and implemented strategies with Fortune 500 companies, and helped bring the appropriate best practice solutions to small to mid-sized businesses seeking to grow. Her expertise includes optimizing HR, re-aligning or restructuring businesses, divisions, or departments, workforce acquisition, talent development and deployment, engagement, retention, peak performance, and managing change and transitions. Maggie’s ability to quantify qualitative aspects of the business has provided unique insights leading to competitive advantages in the organizations with which she’s served.


    Abbey Vanderwerf, SHRM-CP, PHR
    Abbey Vanderwerf joined the Employee Benefits department at Howalt+McDowell Insurance in 2008. Prior to that, her professional experience was mainly in the area of Human Resources. Her HR background has given her the ability to assist employers with their benefit programs from both an organizational and a compliance perspective. She is the in-house Health Care Reform expert and has led a work group of employers through the challenging provisions of the law. Abbey graduated from South Dakota State University in 2005 and holds both her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS) designations.
